Age plays a major role in women’s fertility. Ladies in their 20s to early 30s are in their prominent reproductive years. However, not many women today feel ready to have a baby at this age. In such cases, egg freezing provides you with a solution. If you decide to get pregnant later but find out that your eggs are not viable, it will put an end to your biological link. Freezing your eggs will allow you to focus more on your career, finding the right partner, or achieving other personal goals.
There are studies that prove self-care actually makes you more effective and energetic. Self-Care is important to ensure that you’re not only physically healthy, but mentally healthy as well which is an absolute necessity before opting for egg freezing. It also produces positive feelings, which will eventually improve confidence and self-esteem
Self-Care has become one of the most common words used these days. You probably hear it every other day from friends while sharing your daily stresses. Your friends are likely to suggest you take some time for yourself, after all, you deserve some “me” time.
The words self-care may be two of our favorite words to throw around right now. It is very important and helps not only your physical health, but your mental well-being as well. However, it is highly possible that you’ve heard it so many times it has lost its meaning. We would like to take a moment and give some meaning to the words “Self-Care” as it can mean much more than you anticipated.
Self-Care can mean and look like the little things but it’s also about being aware of what your needs are. Each person takes a different approach when it comes to self-care, and yours might be completely different from others. This stuff is deep so it might take a little extra effort to peel off the layers and incorporate self-love in a way that’s meaningful and specific to you.
Embrace your feelings. You and only you know what you’re experiencing and it’s very likely that you’ve been so busy with life, you haven’t actually had the chance to hear what your heart is saying. So just pause and take a break. Take a break right now where you are sitting and simply close your eyes. Take a deep breath and ask yourself what you’re feeling at this very moment. You should consider starting from this point because you won’t know what it is you need until you discover what you’re missing. Also, don’t immediately dismiss what you feel either and decide what would help nurture you at that moment. Taking a walk while thinking about it may help you out.
The self-care we’re suggesting is significant and is made for you at the moment you need it. Here are some ideas to kickstart the process and help you figure out your own unique way of practicing self-care today, not only throughout the eggs freezing process, but for the days that follow as well.
First of all, self-care is always important and it’s a good practice to establish. It helps you manage stress. Self-care will also give you with the opportunity for self-reflection and offer you moments of uplifting clarity.
You’ll have a lot of emotions and reactions from the fertility medications that you’ll inject for stimulating your ovaries. Incorporating self-care practices will help keep your emotions in check and have a grounding and calming effect.
Self-care is a positive habit to keep your mind calm and focused. At Coastal Fertility, we are well aware of the fact that the eggs freezing process can be really challenging for you on multiple levels. Even if your reaction to fertility drugs is mild, the decision of freezing eggs comes with its own weight.
Therefore, we feel it’s imperative for you to take care of yourself and your every need, even more than usual during the complete eggs freezing process.
Whether it’s your significant other, your parents, your co-worker, or your best friend, we encourage you to allow them to be there with you throughout the eggs freezing process. It’s okay if you need to flush out your thoughts with your friends or parents during your commute, have a movie night once a week, or create a group to share funny stories. Whatever method you choose, stay with the ones who care about you and look to them as often as you need them.
We have a wonderful staff of experts who can answer your questions and alleviate any concerns. Besides we wouldn’t want you to rely on Dr. Google for all your answers. It usually doesn’t end well. We recommend writing down all your questions before any appointments with your doctor. If you come across anything between visits and need an urgent answer, you can always call us directly. We’re here to help and are happy to answer all your questions. Our goal is to provide you with all the comfort you need and provide any necessary resources.
It’s not about treating yourself with something big, but small things like a fresh flower stem at your desk, an evening with your favorite book, a bold lipstick or hoop earrings, or even spending a full day with Netflix for no specific reason can be exactly what you need. Get creative and treat yourself to self-care each day of the week during the eggs freezing process. No act of self-love is too small.
It is possible that you may feel like you’re running short on time. But saying you don’t have time isn’t going to cut it. So, when you feel like you don’t have time to spare, that is the perfect time to spend 5 minutes just for yourself. Lie down in your bed and stare at the ceiling, meditate, stretch at your desk or listen to a song all the way through. Do whatever you feel like doing. This is your time to recharge and refocus.
The egg retrieval procedure itself is relatively painless. Most patients can resume their normal routine 24-48 hours after the process is complete. Once everything is over, you may feel a little anxious or nervous. During this time, it is important to think positively and practice relaxation techniques.
One technique is focused breathing. When you are stressed it is natural to take shallow breaths. Doing so does not allow complete oxygen exchange which increases stress and anxiety. Taking deep breaths allows for complete oxygen exchange, and more oxygen to reach the brain and other organs. This will slow your heartbeat and stabilize your blood pressure.
Meditation is another common technique to relax. Meditation calms and relaxes your body and mind. It also allows you to find your inner peace and balance and transform negative thoughts into positive ones. Meditation should be done in a quiet space allowing to block out any distractions and clear your mind.
Not only taking care of yourself mentally after the process is important but doing so physically is as well. You will be required to take a full day off from work or school. Even though the retrieval procedure itself is fairly short, there’s still a recovery period in the eggs freezing process. You may feel tired or some tenderness in your pelvic area. This is probably a great time to catch up on your favorite T.V. show or watch a movie or two you’ve been meaning to see. It will probably be recommended to refrain from physical activity such as going to the gym for several days after to allow your body enough time to recover. Figure out what works best for your and stick to it.
Self-Care is an ongoing practice and not something you are going to accomplish overnight. You might need to try a few methods before finding one that you like or find a few and periodically switch them up. Remember, the eggs freezing process will be much easier to go through if you manage your stress, stay grounded and offer yourself some personal time.

Following the Preimplantation Genetic Screening process, which helps ensure there are normal chromosome numbers and detects possible genetic disorders, the most healthy embryo(s) are selected to be implanted into your or your chosen surrogate’s womb. 2 weeks after the transfer of the embryo, your physician will conduct a final blood test to determine the level of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your body. Increased hCG levels usually indicate a positive pregnancy test.
For fertilization to take place, the collected egg and sperm are combined in a petri dish and cultured in an embryo incubator. This dish is closely watched to check whether any of the eggs have been fertilized. Once the egg is fertilized, it is referred to as an embryo or a blastocyst on the 5th day of development. Our in-house embryologist carefully nurtures every embryo to the right time, even if it means working outside the standard business operating hours. For instance: If an oocyte is not mature, our laboratory will wait for it to mature and then ICSI it at the right time.
The egg retrieval is a slightly invasive medical procedure that takes about 20 to 30 minutes. You will be given an anesthetic to make you sleep for the duration of the procedure. Using ultrasound technology, your doctor will harvest your eggs transvaginally with a small, hollow needle connected to an ultrasound probe. Once your eggs are collected, your partner’s semen or donor sperm you have pre-selected is used for fertilization. The sperm are washed and prepared, and the top-quality sperm extracted is used to fertilize the eggs.
Your doctor will create a customized medication schedule that contains information about the fertility medications and hormone injections you have to take. Medication and injections are taken to encourage your ovaries to mature a large number of eggs for fertilization. Since women don’t respond to fertility drugs and hormones the same way, personalized protocols are crucial to the IVF cycle success. At Coastal Fertility, we will monitor you closely, letting you understand the changes occurring in your body and keeping track of how your egg follicles are growing.
On-site consultations typicallyinclude a standard fertility evaluation, consisting of a physical examination, complementary follicular ultrasound, and testing to enable your doctor to know your present fertility status and draw up a treatment plan.
This consultation includes a detailed medical evaluation with a doctor. You and your physician will review your health records and have enough time to talk about your goals and get answers to your questions. We recommend that you jot down all your questions before the visit to allow you to make the best use of the time spent with your doctor.
Your Reproductive Endocrinologist will take all factors into consideration and create a comprehensive plan of care, otherwise known as the treatment plan. This plan will include treatment recommendations from the physician and enable your financial coordinator to make a precise quotation once you meet.
